Training & Performance Company Auditions
Moving in the Spirit will hold training company and performance company auditions for the 2025-2026 program year on July 12, 2025 and August 30, 2025.
Moving in the Spirit’s intermediate and advanced training companies are for dancers who wish to dedicate multiple days a week to developing and refining their dance technique and artistry.
Moving in the Spirit’s premiere performance company, the Youth Ambassador Team, represents our organization with excellence at local, regional, and national events and performance opportunities.
The Companies
Dancers can audition for the following performance and training companies:
- Apprentice Corporation training company (teens ages 13+)
- GLOW in Motion training company (girls ages 9-12)
- Ambassador Team performance company (boys & girls ages 10-18)
Audition Options
Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10 AM – 2 PM
Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 2 PM – 6 PM
All auditions will be held at Moving in the Spirit.
We highly encourage all dancers intending to audition to first enroll in one of our age-appropriate Stepping Stones classes.
This will ensure that you will have a spot in a class on the day and time of your choice if you are not placed in a training or performance company.
If you are placed in a training and/or performance company, our program team will automatically remove your enrollment from the Stepping Stones class. You will be notified via email and given access to enroll in the training and/or performance company.
What to Expect at Auditions
- Students will have a ballet and modern center warm-up; perform a jazz combination across the floor that will include an element of improvisation; and learn a contemporary dance routine
- Students will also need to prepare a 2-3 paragraph essay. In the essay, students will answer the following questions: How does dance make you feel, and how will you use that feeling to impact the world?
- Moving in the Spirit is NOT only about dance technique. Students will also get an opportunity to showcase their public speaking skills as part of the audition. All students should be prepared to introduce themselves and explain why they want to join the group(s) they are auditioning for.
If you plan to audition in August, we highly encourage you to keep moving. Consider signing up for our Summer Camp. Dance is a muscle. If you don’t use it, you lose it!

What happens if I’m not placed in a company?
Students not placed in a training company or performance company can still take classes and perform with Moving in the Spirit!
Moving in the Spirit is structured so that there is a class for everyone. Our program team will place you in an appropriate-level Steppings Stones class – and make recommendations for supplementary Movement Labs – so that you can build your technique and prepare for next year’s audition.
