Community Class with Giwayen Mata
Our program partner, Giwayen Mata, offers community classes in West African Dance twice a month at Moving in the Spirit!
Set to live percussion of the djembe drum orchestra and tailored for beginning and intermediate dancers, this multi-generational class teaches fundamentals of dances from the Baga, Bambara, Malinke, and Susu people of Greater Senegambia.
We’re proud to partner with this Atlanta cultural icon! Register for class!

Summer Dance Series: Community Rhythms
Join us for Moving in the Spirit’s summer dance series, Community Rhythms: Social Dance through Jazz, Hip Hop, & African Dance.
This high-energy community dance class explores the roots and rhythms of social dance through the lens of Jazz, Hip Hop, and African dance techniques.
Children, teens, adults, and seniors are all welcome, and no prior dance experience is required.
July 14-25, 2025
Summer Dance Camp
At Moving in the Spirit’s Summer Dance Camp, boys and girls ages 7-13 build confidence, community, and creativity while studying various styles of dance
Dancers will also explore the elements of dance-building, collaborating with teaching artists and peers to create their own unique choreography.
Engaging workshops on health and wellness, life and leadership skills, and literacy complete the camp experience.

Open House at Moving in the Spirit
Save the date and bring a friend to Moving in the Spirit’s Open House!
Tour our arts center, meet your child’s dance teacher, and connect with other Moving in the Spirit families at this fun, festive event.
Join us throughout the day for studio tours, sample dance classes, performances, face painting, and more!

Company Auditions
Moving in the Spirit will hold auditions for several training and performance companies on August 30, 2025 from 2 PM – 6 PM.
Our intermediate and advanced training companies are for dancers who wish to dedicate multiple days a week to developing and refining their dance technique and artistry.
Our premiere performance company, the Youth Ambassador Team, represents our organization with excellence at local, regional, and national events and performance opportunities.
