Journey on the A Train: A Human Canvas || May 11-13, 2023

Journey on the A Train: a human canvas is a new dance performance currently in development by Moving in the Spirit students ages 5-18 in collaboration with their teaching artists.

The performance, inspired by visual art and poetry from the book “Harlem” by Walter Dean Myers and Christopher Myers, explores resilience, connection, and the triumph of the human spirit.

Our young artists are building toward a world premiere of the work in May 2024, which will feature multimedia performances and live music.

We’ll be livestreaming the second phase of the work’s development on May 11-13, 2023. Each evening features different sections of the works in progress, offering a sneak peek of the artistic process and inspiration from our young people.
