'Five Stories' Dance Film Screening

Friday, October 4, 2024 || 7 PM

Moving in the Spirit is proud to present Five Stories, a dance documentary about the first Black dance studios in Atlanta.

Produced by Dance Stories ATL, this film explores the studios that created access and paved the way for young Black artists.

From Barbara Sullivan, Billie Gaither, Norma B. Mitchell, Spelman’s Children’s Theater, and Valjean Grigsby, Five Stories brings awareness to their history, their struggles, and their reason for being a force in the arts community. View film trailer.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Dance Stories ATL founders Shoccara Marcus and Tamara Irving, two Howard University alumnae dedicated to preserving the rich history of dance and amplifying the voices of the Black dance community in Atlanta, Georgia.
