Moving in the Spirit’s programs provide a safe, nurturing environment in which young people can study the art of dance, make friends, and develop the skills they need to thrive.

The 2024-2025 program year begins Monday, September 9, 2024 and runs through May 2025.

Enrollment for the Fall 2024 semester has closed.

Enrollment for the Winter/Spring 2025 semester will open on Friday, December 13, 2024.

How to Enroll for Classes

  1. Complete our enrollment form and select your preferred classes (a full class & tuition schedule can be found here
  2. Follow the prompts to pay your registration fee ($25 per family). Once this fee is paid, you are officially enrolled into the program.
  3. To apply for sliding scale tuition, select “Yes” in the section of the enrollment form that asks “Are you interested in applying for a sliding scale tuition adjustment?”

How much do classes cost?

Tuition varies based on the program for which you enroll. Tuition costs can be found on our Class Schedule page.

Do you offer financial aid?

Moving in the Spirit provides a sliding-scale tuition option to ensure that financial challenge is not a barrier for young people wishing to dance in our programs. You can see if you qualify and learn more on our Sliding Scale Tuition page.

My child is older and has never taken dance. Does s/he need dance experience to enroll at Moving in the Spirit?

Any youth ages 3-18 can register for classes at Moving in the Spirit.  While prior dance experience is great, it is not required to participate. Moving in the Spirit has open-level classes, as well as training companies (GLOW in Motion, Men in Motion, and Apprentice Corporation) for intermediate and advanced students. 

What type of dance does Moving in the Spirit teach?

The foundation of our curriculum is modern dance and creative movement. Students also have an opportunity to study ballet, jazz, hip-hop and West African, and to create original choreography.

What should my child wear to class?

Girls should wear black footless tights or leggings and a black leotard. Boys should wear a black sports shirt and black pants or shorts. Ballet shoes are not required unless you’re enrolled in Beginner Ballet, GLOW in Motion, or Apprentice Corporation.

Is Moving in the Spirit a nonprofit?

Yes, Moving in the Spirit is a nonprofit organization that receives funding through grants, corporations, and individual donors.
